The centre of Malcesine is the ideal starting point for a different kind of excursion. It has a very pretty old centre and, being on the lake, it also has a nice little harbour where you can catch a passenger ferry (or car ferry) and visit the other small towns around the lake.

There is also a Cableways which in a short time takes you to up to Monte Baldo, one of the most spectacular natural environments of the Alps, offering various activities: excursions, walks, hiking, mountain-biking, paragliding, nature trails, etc.

Heading north, a short car journey takes you to the Tenno and Ledro valleys and their mountain lakes, and Val di Gresta. Further on you come to towns of great traditions and history, such as Trento, Rovereto (don’t miss the MART, the Modern Art Museum) then Bolzano, Renon, Merano and the romantic Bressanone and Vipiteno. Not forgetting a regenerating visit to one of the many localities at the foot of the “most beautiful mountains in the world”, the famous Dolomites.

Going south, not far from Malcesine, there’s Castelletto di Brenzone, a centre of spiritual serenity offering – through peace and prayer, learning and meditation – unique experiences of faith and the opportunity to explore one’s personal spirituality.

Still further south the roads branch out towards the interior, where you can see the lake from breathtakingly panoramic positions. Then on to the land of wine, the beautiful Valpolicella, internationally renowned for its beautiful landscape and the many food and wine events held all through the year.

Leaving the neat rows of vines behind you, you come to Verona, a town of music, which is performed in one of the world’s most fascinating venues: the Arena, an Ancient Roman amphitheatre. Verona is also a very romantic town with its old bridges, its welcoming trattorias and little shops where you can buy speciality products, or its churches, historical buildings and many Roman ruins. And, of course, Juliet’s famous balcony in the heart of town.

Verona is also conveniently positioned as a crossroads offering new adventures.

To the west is Bergamo and its enchanting mediaeval upper town, which is also linked to the lower town via funicular railway. Then Milan, the capital of fashion and of the Italian lifestyle, a shopping mecca for all tastes and budgets, a city offering many different kinds of cultural and social events every day of the year.

From Verona, take a train or car east to Vicenza, where international gold and jewellery fairs are held every year, and continue to Venice, the world’s most beautiful city. Drink in the special atmospheres of the lagoon city for memories you will cherish forever. To the south of Verona is the small yet art-rich town of Mantua, a centre of the Italian and European Renaissance and, like Verona, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

If you stay on the lake you can take the Gardesana main road which links all the towns on Garda’s western shore, from Limone sul Garda to Salò, and enjoy a spectacular view of our side of the lake and the area of Monte Baldo from a panoramic position.

So many destinations rich in history and traditions. Alternatively, there’s some serious fun awaiting you at Italy’s top amusement park, Gardaland. Or you could dive into the attractions of Caneva waterpark, or explore the many things to do in the Jungle Adventure park. Or simply relax in the Terme di Colà and Aquardens spa parks.

A world of opportunities for enjoyment, alone or with friends and family. Fascinating, unmissable activities that will turn your leisure time into a very special experience. Something else to chat about when you get back to the hotel.
